When we reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 last August, there was very little bad we could find to say about it. Here was a smartphone with more power than you’d likely need, a brilliant screen, a built-in stylus (the magical S Pen) and a super camera. Add to that wireless charging, waterproofing, microSD support and headphone jack, and it’s hard to know what else you could want. Oh yes: a cheaper price. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is many things, but cheap is not one of them. Until now. Right now at Mobile Phones Direct, you can buy the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in black or blue for £599.99, SIM-free . Note that this is the model with a crazy 512GB of built-in storage, which has an RRP of £1,099, rather than the ‘cheap’ £899 128GB option. Should you buy that? As a former Note owner myself, I probably would if I weren’t 13 months into a 24-month contract. While it’s true that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is probably just two months away, you're going to be spending a lot more than this. It may even bump up against four figures. And realistically the Note 9 is more than enough for most people’s needs. The phone isn’t showing any signs of slowing down just yet, the dual camera array is one of the best performers we’ve seen, and that large OLED screen is also up there with the best in class. Plus, given it supports a microSD card of up to 512GB, you can theoretically have a handset with 1TB of data. The only real criticism we ever had with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was its price. Don’t get me wrong: it’s still expensive, but at the same time it just became exceptionally good value if you have deep enough pockets. Buy now from Mobile Phones Direct
