When we first reviewed the Beats Solo Pro wireless headphones here, we were sufficiently impressed not only to give them a five-star score, but also slap them with the Best Buy award. Two years on and they’re an even better buy thanks to Amazon’s annual Prime Day sale. The headphones normally will set you back £270, but are 49% off at £139 in black , grey or white . Sadly the blue edition is barely reduced at all, and will still set you back £246.82.
So what makes the Beats Solo Pro so worth having, even in 2021? It comes down to three things, which happen to be the main things you look for in a good pair of wireless headphones: sound quality, noise cancellation and battery life. First up, the sound quality is great. In our review, staff writer Andy White was full of praise for the “punchy and tight” bass, and the level of detail in the mids and treble. Helping this along was the superb active noise cancellation (ANC) that the headphones provide – easily enough to drown out the cacophony of the London Underground or the aggressive rumble of a washing machine. Finally, there’s battery life, and here the Beats Solo Pro really excels. A massive 22 hours with ANC enabled is nearly doubled to 40 hours with it switched off. Beats now being owned by Apple, the headphones are charged via Lightning cable when you finally do need a top up, which will be convenient for those with an iPhone. “For iPhone users, in particular, they offer as good an experience as you'll find from a pair of ANC headphones right now thanks to their instant pairing and hands-free Siri support,” concluded White in our review. “For everyone else, it’s not quite so clear cut but there's still a great deal to like about the Beats Solo Pro.” Suffice it to say, there’s even more to like when they’re available for just £139.
