As I’ve written before, Apple hardware is expensive and isn’t on sale often. When it is, you’re generally only looking at small discounts, too. That’s why John Lewis’ current price on both flavours of the 2017 MacBook is well worth a look: depending on the model you buy, you could save up to £550 on Apple’s RRP. The cheaper model is powered by an Intel Core m3 processor, backed by 8GB RAM and packing a 256GB SSD. Apple would charge you £1,249 for the laptop, but John Lewis has it in gold or rose gold for £799 – a £450 saving . If you can afford a bit more, the more powerful version is well worth buying instead, though. Running an Intel Core i5 processor, the performance difference is substantial, and you also get double the SSD to boot. The saving is greater too – it’s £550 off its RRP, coming in at £999 . Yes, this is 2017 hardware, but it’s still the latest version of the MacBook, with Apple choosing to focus on the MacBook Air late last year. It could be refreshed in 2019, but suffice it to say that Apple’s pricing has only been going one way recently. Even if the MacBook is updated, it won’t come close to touching this, price wise. And it’s an excellent piece of hardware, as Nathan wrote in his review. “As good as last year’s model was, I felt like a really needed an excuse in order to justify buying one,” he wrote. “This year’s model, however, with its better battery life, faster storage and quicker CPU is a laptop that needs no such vindication. “If portability is the most important thing to you, there's simply nothing else like it.” At its new, lower price, it’s even easier to endorse. Act fast if you want one, this deal likely won’t last long. Buy now from John Lewis
